Cymru (pronounced [ˈkəm.rɨ] ) is the Welsh-language name for Wales, a country of the United Kingdom, on the island of Great Britain. It, and the Welsh word Cymry referring to the Welsh people, are descended from the Brythonic word combrogi, meaning 'countrymen' or 'compatriots'.
