Taphophobia (from Greek τάφος – taphos, "grave, tomb" and φόβος – phobos, "fear") is an abnormal (psychopathological) phobia of being buried alive as a result of being incorrectly pronounced dead. Before the era of modern medicine, the fear was not entirely irrational.
