Swedish monarchs were crowned from 1210 until 1873 during a formal ceremony which included regal insignia. While early ceremonies in the 13th and 14th centuries were held in various cities, Uppsala Cathedral and Storkyrkan in Stockholm emerged as the primary venues from the mid-15th century onward.
