The Queen's Gambit Declined (or QGD) is a chess opening, a primary line of the Queen's Gambit beginning with the moves: 1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6 Instead of taking the pawn offered by White on c4 (the Queen's Gambit Accepted), Black defends the d-pawn with 2...e6 (the "Orthodox" Queen's Gambit Declined).
